The tape file is a RSX virtual device file. You cannot get it unless you
are running BQTCP FTP, so that it can be transferred in native mode.
These files are a bit peculiar in their format, and FTP in general do
not have the ability to transport such files. So if you try in non-RSX
mode, you'll just get an error trying.
As for installation, there is a document along with the distribution,
but in short, just run @[IP]IPGEN on the device where you have the
distribution, and answer the questions. Should not be too complicated,
but I am aware that the installation is a bit primitive with some rough
edges. I'm always happy receive any feedback, which can help me improve
both documentation and installation.

You probably want DECnet as well, yes, although BQTCP can run with the
XE: device driver as well, if you have a Unibus system.
