I remembered that I started some code a while ago for messing around with
.tap files and I managed to use it to extract the files from the .tap file
onto my PC and then FTP them over to the VAX. I just needed to reset the
attributes and I was away. Still, there have been some very interesting
replies to this question that will be worth following up.
