Depends on what software you run on SIMH.

I use xterm and PuTTY, and they both seem fine for my use case: a PDP-10
running ITS in Ann Arbor Ambassador mode.  Not all terminal emulators
handle the AAA codes well.

Sometimes I switch xterm to VT52 mode, something not all emulators will
support.

I have also used xterm in its Tektronix mode for use with Macsyma plots.

So... xterm for the win, I guess.
