That page I also found. However there disk gave errors and I blamed that
on the different machine. A lot of the tuning also doesn't apply to the
780. I tried again with an adapted version of your ini:
load vmb.exe
set cpu idle
attach rq0 vms44sys.dsk
attach rq1 vms040stb.rx3
attach ts bb-bt05c-be.tap
;attach cs vms044mup.rx1
set console log=logs/vms44.log
I used the tape found elsewhere, but just to be sure:
hvdkamer at obelix:~/vax$ md5sum bb-bt05c-be*
7fa6f5bfe2e49a1de37e7312e8ef9ae6 bb-bt05c-be.tap
7fa6f5bfe2e49a1de37e7312e8ef9ae6 bb-bt05c-be_vms_v4_4_c1986.tap
You say:
b rq0 /R5:800
But that is the not initialized disk? I tried:
hvdkamer at obelix:~/vax$ vax780 vax780.ini
VAX780 simulator V3.8-1
Logging to file "logs/vms44.log"
sim> boot rq0 /R5:800

sim> boot rq1 /R5:800

sim> boot rq0

sim> boot rq1

I also got that from a different ini in my earlier experiments. This and
another experiment at least seems do something :-).
I will try there code it in a virtual Windows machine, just to see what
is different and if it gives some clues.
Thanks for the reply.
