Never mind, it looks like this was a permission error, I wasn't using sudo.
I suppose it would be helpful to log the reason for the open error.

Subject: SIMH Networking Wants TAP Device Now?

I have been using SIMH successfully for quite some time on a Raspberry Pi,
with my network adapters connected to eth0. However I recently bought a new
Raspberry Pi 3, now I get this:

MicroVAX 3900 simulator V4.0-0 Beta git commit id: f081ddf9

NVR: buffering file in memory

libpcap version 1.6.2

Eth: Must specify actual tap device name (i.e. tap:tap0)

./microvax3900.ini-29> attach xq eth0

File open error

I don't have any TAP interfaces defined on either Pi, to be honest I don't
know a whole lot about them and I am not sure if I need to define one or
why.

Any ideas why it won't attach to eth0 anymore?

Regards

Rob
