Hello,

I've been playing with the Interdata simulator and trying to get
OS32 8.1 from bitsavers to run. I searched the archives and the
only information I found was from Feb 2006.

If someone can help, I have a couple of questions:

1) The boot steps for an 8-32 cpu in the installation manual
   (04-082M95R16_OS32v8.1Installation_May85.pdf) don't seem to work.
It seems as if the AutoLoad, "AL" (D500), instruction doesn't
work. Is this a "feature" or am I doing something wrong?

2) I boot the "starter" tape but am unable to load the "backup"
program to "unpack" the tape. Here's a log:

./id32

Interdata 32b simulator V4.0-0 Beta git commit id: fa407e67
sim> set cpu 832
sim> att dm0 test0.dsk
sim> att mt0 04-082M71R16S_OS32_starter.tap
sim> d 78 85a18540
sim> boot mt0

OS32MT08-01.OS32MTS1 LICENSE
MEMORY TEST IN PROGRESS
END OF MEMORY TEST
UNAVAILABLE MEMORY BLOCKS = 0
ENTER DATE AND TIME
*SET TIME 01/26/16,19:09:00
*L BACKUP
LOAD-ERR TYPE=VOL POS=BACKUP
*

The operator manual doesn't explain this specific error message.
Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong?

Don
