To follow up on my original post, I tried an older version of SIMH: SIMH
3.2-3, and it does boot the NetBSD 4.0 CD. It's installing now, on an
emulated RA82.

Once it's done installing, I'll try running it on 3.8-0.

Subject: [Simh] NetBSD 4.0 on SIMH/VAX

Has anyone successfully installed NetBSD 4.0 on SIMH/VAX?

I tried using the vaxcd.iso image for NetBSD 4.0 and 3.0, and both
halt right after attempting to boot. I'm using the ore-compwindows
binaries for SIMH 3.8-0. I tried the ones with and without Ethernet
support.

Several years ago, I had NetBSD 2.0 or 1.6 running in SIMH.

I also tried OpenBSD 4.3, which boots fine, but fails during
installation while untarring base43.tgz.

I will try netbooting a real microvax with NetBSD once I get mopd
running on my Linux machine. Last time I ran it was with RedHat 7.2,
and I'm not sure if it will run on Fedora Core 7 that I'm running now.
