G'day Fausto -
Our commercial reNOVAte products have an entirely different focus and design
than the SimH project. reNOVAte must meet client requirements for speed,
compatibility, breadth of peripherals supported, custom features, custom
hardware interface and much, much more. They are part of guaranteed
solutions for business-critical and real-time, mission critical government
and military applications world wide.
SimH is designed for... well.. Bob says it best:
"The goal of the project is to create highly portable system simulators and
to publish them as freeware on the Internet, with freely available copies of
significant or representative software."
The commercial reNOVAte product is totally different and separate than the
SimH project, although I have added a hint of some reNOVAte features in the
recent SimH updates. The SimH Nova source code also has additional DG
historical and compatibility comments creeping into it during each update.
But another major difference is that SimH is also fun!

Hello Bruce,
Thanks a lot for your update. Just a simple question: what are the
difference between this zip file and ReNOVATE emulator?
Thanks a lot,
Fausto

Subject: [Simh] update for proposed Nova subsystem update
G'day SimH'ers -
The proposed Nova subsystem update has been updated (?) and is available
for
download at:
http://www.wild-hare.com/tmp/nova.zip
<http://www.wild-hare.com/tmp/nova.zip>
Additional items that have been fixed/added since the June 3 update
include:
- numerous peripheral driver fixes to match undocumented or secret DG
behaviour
- support for additional undocumented or secret Nova 3 and Nova 4
behaviour
- new 64 KW memory support to emulate 3rd-party machines (i.e. Keronix,
Point 4, INI)
- execution MIPS display for Windows and Linux. (And how fast was I
going,
officer?)
(this can be adapted to other CPU SimH emulators)
- more features and options for paper tape binary loading (SCP's LOAD
command)
- instruction execution trace history (this can be adapted to other CPU
SimH
emulators)
- /Break>graceful/intuitive handling of Windows <control and/or
<control/C>
(this can be adapted to other CPU SimH emulators)
- numerous other minor fixes and enhancements
Again, this is a usable snapshot of 'work in progress' and is presented
for
comments, ridicule and suggestions by the SimH community.
