[Simh] Delay during startup/shutdown under windows

For what it's worth
It appears to me that the delay is occurring during the first Write operation to
a virtual disk.. Is it reasonable to accept that VMS might not write to a
mounted data disk (w/o any system files) on it until it's time to dismount it
???
I also found a reference in microsoft's caverns that mentions that large files
are buffered... The other possibility is that windoze is creating those disks as
sparse files..... (which means that they have to be buffered).
When I get the chance, I will investigate the practicality of (optionally)
changing the file IO for windows to use unbuffered files. This will only work
if the IO Buffers are aligned on a sector boundary (actually the easiest is to
align them on a windows page (4 K) boundary.
I have to have something SIMH related to do now that Bob and his coherts have
rendered my Throttle modification redundant (Well Done!!).
It would be an interesting exercise - and might even improve the disk io
performance.....
