If you're working under VMS, you ought to have them in your system logical
names (SYS$SYSROOT) anyway -- that's one of the reasons for logical names;
you don't want to refer to hardware directly, but should have it
abstracted.

If you're not under VMS, I have no useful advice in this case. :)
