While I have been playing with running VMS on simulated VAXen, and RT-11<br>
and RSX-11M(+) on simulated PDP11s for many years, I have never tried RSTS<br>
on a PDP11 - until now.<br>

I have found installation tapes on <a href="http://rsts.org" rel="noreferrer noreferrer" target="_blank">rsts.org</a>, but I also have a pre-built<br>
system that I downloaded in January 2018 that I was hoping to start with. I<br>
can't recall where I got it from.<br>
<br>
The file name that I downloaded is RSTS_V10.1.zip and the contents of the<br>
zip file are:<br>
RQDiskV10_1.DSK<br>
rsts_1193.ini<br>

The DSK file is 155MB in size, so I presume it is a simulated RD54.<br>
<br>
I can boot the system using the simh pdp11.exe executable on Windows 10 (I<br>
normally use CentOS rather than Windows for this type of work) and it<br>
appears to run successfully. HOWEVER, I can't log in as I have no<br>
information on a username/password combination. I have guessed a few<br>
possible passwords (including no password) for the [1,2] account, but to no<br>
avail.<br>

Does anyone recognise the system that I have described to the extent that<br>
you might be able to help me use it?<br>
<br>
Also, does anyone know how to get into a RSTS system when you have<br>
forgotten the system password? Is this even possible? I know how to do it<br>
on VMS, but RSTS is completely new to me.<br>

IIRC all of the prebuilt systems on RSTS.org come with a text file called<br>
password.txt which provides all of the passwords. If you no longer have<br>
yours, you could always redownload the packages.<br>

I believe the 1,2 password is “system” on a virgin system.<br>
