[Simh] Semi-OT: Terminal Recommendations for use with SIMH

For REGIS graphics from a Windows environment I found 2 programs that will support REGIS and VT100, VT2XX, VT3XX , VT4xx, VT5xx terminal emulations:-

 

1.	Micro Focus  Reflection Desktop for X  (expensive)[Enterprise market] [supports Windows, AIX, HPUX, solaris, linux]
2.	DCSI E-Term32 Plus (much more reasonably priced @USD$149- for single license) [Windows only]

 

Both of these support all the DEC emulations and allow full keyboard remapping so that when using EDT in RSX11M-PLUS the numeric keypad works as intended.

 

I particularly wanted a terminal emulator that supported REGIS graphics – and now use both Reflection Workspace as well as DCSI E-Term32-Plus. 

 

Most of my access currently is via a VT2XX style terminal emulations – with the REGIS Graphics usage to come later.

Primarily PDP-11 access currently – RSX11M-PLUS with BQTCP TCPIP suite allowing Telnet access.

 

I also found a third VT1XX style terminal emulator that also supports full keyboard remapping which is TTWIN64 – and it is an excellent program – but aimed at the Enterprise market so is also somewhat expensive. TTWIN64 does not support REGIS Graphics though.

 

If I had only been wanting VT100 style emulation then SecureCRT is quite reasonably priced although I’m not sure to what degree its terminal emulation supports keyboard remapping as it has been a while since I last used it.

ZOC and SecureCRT are both rather pricy. ZOC is $80, while SecureCRT is $100. Also, neither of them support ReGIS or Sixel graphics, which would be fun to have. If I'm going to be spending $80-$100, I'd frankly rather just build something based around Xterm on a Raspberry Pi.
