An offhand comment on another list led me to find out that a DPS-8/M emulator of sufficient completeness to be running Multics (with month-plus uptimes) has been created based on SIMH code: http://ringzero.wikidot.com/ Have the creators of this simulator been approached about possibly contributing it back to mainline SIMH for inclusion in future releases?
