Again a valid point, you’d need host OS tools to create the metadata files + the actual data.

I assumed this was for some weird systems/OSes that simply could not run Kermit for some reason - but Bob is right: If you want to get stuff into your guest OS and Kermit isn’t an option, use whatever weird mechanism your exotic system used (punched cards, magnetic tape, etc).

The built-in guest-to-host-and-back file server is probably not realistic but it was an interesting intellectual exercise.
