In SET HOST/DUP/DSSI, DUP expands to "Device Utility Program". I think the is the same expansion and in the same spirit as for RT-11 DUP although of course RT-11 DUP worked with a many different generations of devices older than DSSI.
In the communications context, DUP-11 refers to the DUP-11 synchronous interface board.

Subject: [Simh] What does "DUP" stand for ?
There's been a lot of discussion regarding KMC11 and DUP lately.
Can someone remind me what the acronym DUP stands for ? I've done a SET HOST /DUP /DSSI before on a VAX4000-300 to set up the DSSI disks, but that was so long ago and I'm a bit rusty.
Cheers
Jason
