[Simh] Questions on SIMH VAX

In the past my usage of simh has been limited primarily to the PDP-11, and
though I've also used it for the PDP-10 emulation. Now I find myself
looking for a low-power alternative to my existing systems (Compaq
XP1000/667 and VAXstation 4000/60).
In taking a hard look at my actual requirements I've come to realize that
realistically all I need is one system running a few select tools, most of
which are available on the VAX, in fact those that aren't, I can live
without.
So I find myself wondering how well SIMH could do to serve my needs. My
idea is to host it on something like an Intel Dual-Core D510 1.66Ghz Atom
board. Does anyone happen to know what kind of performance this would give?
How many VUPS would such a setup offer?
How well does the CPU throttleing work, especially if running something like
the WASD webserver?
I assume that Volume Shadowing is supported, so that I can place disk images
on seperate physical hard drives and turn on shadowing? What about
clustering with real physical VMS systems if I desire it? How large of
virtual disks does SIMH support? Does will everything I'm looking for work
under OpenBSD, or do I need to run Linux? Does SIMH support encrypted
virtual disks?
I guess that is enough questions for now. :-)
