[Simh] CPU

No. SIMH VAX simulates the KA655 CPU, which was used in the MicroVAX 3800(Unibus) and 3900(QBus) systems.

SIMH does not limit the speed of the simulated processor – the simulated VAX performance depends upon the speed of your host CPU in running the simulation.

If you need faster SIMH VAX performance, get a faster host computer, remembering that SIMH VAX uses a single-stream CPU simulator.

Don ‘t expect massive performance gains even if you do replace your host – simulation is horribly slow compared to running native software.

Your only other choice is to build and run the SIMH VAX780 simulation, which simulates the older VAX-11/780 system. However, the VAX780 simulation less robust than the VAX simulation.

Subject: [Simh] CPU

Hello all,

Is there a way to emulate other CPU than a 3900 (faster of course) and how and where to modify the config file ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Kind regards.

Patrick.
