[Simh] problem with extended file support on 3.8-0 running on NetBSD/amd64 5.0

I'm running NetBSD/amd64 5.0, and installed simh v3.8-0 via pkgsrc,
however, when I try

 set rq0 rauser=4000

I get "Invalid argument". if I

 set rq0 rauser=2000

no problems, but 2 GB is not really enough to try to build pkgsrc or
a new kernel on a simulated VAX these days.

I tried manually compiling "vax" with

 make -D USE_ADDR64 vax

and it ran and USE_ADDR64 seemed to be defined, but I'm still getting
this error.

I also tried creating a 4 GB file with :

 dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=1024 count=4096000

And that worked fine. Any ideas?
