Hi,
Just to let people know that a clustering between a simh VAX node
And a RX2600 IA64 node works:
+----------------------------------------------------
| SYSTEMS
+--------+----------+--------------------------------
| NODE | SYS_ID | HW_TYPE
+--------+----------+--------------------------------
| VAX73 | 1027 | MicroVAX 3900 Series
| TANIUM | 1088 | HP rx2600 (1.50GHz/6.0MB)
+--------+----------+--------------------------------
Here you can see the output of a show dev d command issued from
The vax node:
$ sh dev d
Device Device Error Volume Free Trans Mnt
Name Status Count Label Blocks Count Cnt
$1$DKA0: (TANIUM) Mounted 0 DIX0 136694240 1
$1$DKA100: (TANIUM) Mounted 0 DIX1 126863280 1
$1$DKB200: (TANIUM) Online 0
$3$DUA0: (VAX73) Mounted 0 VMS73SYS 960210 172
$3$DUA1: (VAX73) Online 0
$3$DUA2: (VAX73) Online 0
$3$DUA3: (VAX73) Online 0
$3$DUB0: (VAX73) Online 0
The contents of the disks are effectively shareable from the Ethernet network. Even with different VMS versions (VAX - 7.3 IA64 - 8.3)
However, I did not succeed to form a cluster with too dissimilar VMS
Versions. I.E. VMS 5.5-2 does not join with VMS 7.3
Simh is quite a good simulator for an effective VAX.
