[Simh] IO too darn fast

One hates to complain about things that work just too well,

But

I think that disk IO on the VAX emulation is just too darn fast - to the point
where an IO hog also hogs the CPU..

Case in point...

Playing with shadow data sets, the system process that synchronizes the copies
(copy not merge) will grab just about the whole cpu (at least on my 1.5 ghz p4 ~
7 vups).

A tiny little bit is available - but almost nothing.....

I have noticed astronomical (compared to my experience with a 4000 model 500) IO
rates under SimH of 100 ios per second.

So is there any simple way of introducing delay into the simulated IO devices so
that IO hogs don't hog the CPU as well..

My thought is to introduce wait states for each io device - the wait states
being counted down in sim time.

Any thoughts ??
