I'm pretty sure I built the 64bit, so that may be a very good pointer - thanks.

I have it working on my Solaris x64 system.

Did you build a 32-bit or a 64-bit binary? I noticed on my system when I 
built a 64-bit binary, it wouldn't speak over the network properly, but 
the 32-bit one would.
