While neither PDP-11 Unibus disks, nor the PDP-11 Massbus adapter, can do odd byte transfers, the 11/780's Massbus adapter can (Massbus disks have no concept of byte count).

Thus, the ONLY disk in the current simulated VAX's that can accept an odd byte count is the RP/RM series on the VAX 11/780.  The maximum disk size is the RP07, 516MB.

It's possible that later VAXen, like the 6000 series, had DSSI or SCSI disk controllers that supported odd byte counts, but they are not implemented on the current simulators.
