[Simh] Telnet with PDP-11 Emulator

I'm running XP Pro SP2 also. I just started using SIMH a couple of weeks
ago, so I don't know much.

What OS are you running? I could never get the telnet to DZ feature to work
with the pre-build 'full' RSTS/E environment I downloaded from the web. It
started working after I re-installed RSTS/E from scratch. I just defaulted
most of the install questions, so I don't know what specific step did it.
Maybe just having the DZ device enabled and configured during the install
adds support for it. I used PDP-11 - RSTS/E from 1976-1980 and don't
remember the gory details about configuring the hardware and OS.

Or, if you are using another OS, then maybe it doesn't know about the DZ
device and isn't listening to it.

Hi

Thanks for that

Unfortunately when I configure as you suggest, the simulator starts
correctly however when in a Windows command window typing 'Telnet localhost'
gives the prompt 'Connected to the PDP-11 Simulator' and a flashing cursor.
No further keystrokes are recognised, this is under Windows XP professional
service pack 2

Any more ideas would be most welcome

Thanks for your time and help

Paul

Hello,

These commands work for me with PDP-11 simulator V3.6-1:

set DZ enabled

set DZ lines=8

set DZ 7b

attach -am DZ 23

You have to type HELLO to get an account number prompt.

Hi

It has been reported by a colleague of mine that when using SIMH version 2.9
and running under Windows XP Professional, that Telnet sessions worked
correctly. However moving to the more recent versions, starting a Telnet
session shows the connection to a PDP-11 but then stops i.e. does not
continue to a log in prompt.

Are there any changes that may have affected this or issues we should be
aware of or are we doing something stupid

; Configure 8 off serial ports

SET DZ LINES=8

att dz 15000

from Windows command window

Telnet localhost 15000

The connection is made but there is no command prompt, any ideas

Regards
