[Simh] 11M output and XP console windows

Having booted up the 11M 3.2 installation kit
from pdp11.org.ru, I find I'm having trouble
with console I/O.

I'm running the pdp11 emulator in a console
window (cmd prompt) under Windows XP Pro SP2.
Simh is V3.6-1.

It seems that the first character of every
line is erased, or overwritten with a space.
For example:

 set /priv
 RIV=TT0:
>

I'm guessing this is a consequence of some sort
of fight between the 11M view of terminals, that
a line starts with LF and ends with CR, and the
more normal Windows view that lines end with CR-LF.

Is this a known issue, and is there a workaround?

I guess I could try using hyperterminal looped
back to the local system, but I don't currently
have a telnet server running (I need the console
terminal for installing 11M and the console DL
doesn't support telnet, right?).

I guess I could also put up with it for sysgen
and use one of the telnet-supporting muxes for
all my terminal needs after that.

Thanks for any pointers,
dave
