[Simh] memory requirements

Greetings 

I am sure that my question is answered somewhere - but I haven't had much luck finding it..

When I try

set cpu 256m

I get a memory exhausted message.

running Win98/SE with 1GB real and 2GB to 4 GB virtual...(1.5 ghz pentium 3)

nothing else running except the usual background garbage and the terminal emulators...

How much Windows virtual is needed to support a 256M cpu ??  (of course - it's probably better to let VMS swap than windows <G>)

by the way,  running vupometer on this configuration gives me a 5.7
