[Simh] NetBSD on SIMH and Laptop

HI,
I have created a disk from NetBSD v1.5.2, for the VAX. It is installed on
my laptop, and runs fine under SIMH with a few annoying problems.
One is that whenever I log in as root, I get the following prompt:
Terminal Type? [unknown]
I can respond "vt100" to this, but it doesn't seem to do anything useful.
It doesn't set the TERM environment variable, anyway.
I am connecting via PUTTY to the NetBSD system, using PUTTY as the console
from VAX boot to shutdown.
Now the only question is: How do I get the netBSD system to connect to the
network, via my laptop's Ethernet cable? It is the sort of physical cable
you plug into a wall socket to get access to the net. Windows works fine,
but I'm unsure of what to attach XQ0 to in order to access the net.
The system without things like browsers and other tools is essentially
useless. I'd like to get the experience of using an actual NetBSD system.
Any tips?
And while we're at it, can we fix that annoying terminal issue?
Thanks,
Zack
