I have an Athalon Thunderbird 1.2ghz for my dedicated simh machine.
This machine
runs OpenBSD 3.5 and a stock build of simh. Large RAM and large disk
support was enabled. No other changes to the source or makefile.

According to the Dhrystone 1.1 source code:
* VAX 11/780    -        UNIX 4.3bsd    cc        1646    1662

Runing UNIX 4.3bsd under simh/vax, I get 8920 dhrystones.

According to my handy calculator, 8920 / 1646 = 5.42

Using your rating for the 780,  8920 / 1857 = 4.80

So I am comfortable saying that it performs about 5 VUPs.
